Here's a
place worth checking out! The Great Canadian Hideaway offers many
pastimes for the "day-tripper" as well as the overnight camper. Enjoy a
swim in our unique, supervised 1500 sq. ft. heated pool (opens the end
of June) or relax down at the natural beach. Rent a paddleboat or canoe
and take it out on our beautiful 200 acre man-made lake. Great fishing
- the reservoir is stocked with small & large mouthed bass,
sunfish, yellow perch, crappie, carp and some pike. Join us for our
annual Fishing Derby each July!
Bring
your own bike or rent one and enjoy the Park's 300 acres at your own
pace. We also have awesome Banana Peel Bikes and Fun Cycles to rent.
Our newest additions are Tornado Pedal Go-Carts. Come try
them out! If you like, join our Recreation Director for a game of Flags
or a movie, then visit our Concession for supper or have a picnic at
the Pavilion. Or just relax and watch the sunset from the beach.
We are a family facility with frequent special events. We have an
annual fireworks display, magician The Amazing Corbin, weekly
"Tall Tales & Spooky Stories" with a professional storyteller, our
annual Haunted Weekend and "Christmas in July" as well as regular sports and various other
activities. Our annual Candlelight Walk features an incredible display
of over 450 candles weaving their way along a beautiful night path.
One aspect of the
Great Canadian Hideaway is the Hidden Hideaway Campground. It is only
open to families and couples, with set quiet hours and controlled
access for security. The grassed lots are all 35' X 75' in size with
fire pits, mature trees and picnic tables. Within the Hidden Hideaway,
there are washrooms, laundry facilities, a big playground and a huge
sports field. The washrooms have flush toilets and hot showers, all
cleaned daily. Ice and firewood are sold for the convenience of
campers, along with items such as bug spray, sunscreen and other
amenities, at the Concession booth. You'll find tasty meals there as
well as the basics such as bread, butter, milk and eggs. The Concession
is known for it's good food - what a great way to treat yourself to a
day away from cooking!
The
Great Canadian Hideaway also has two large group areas: the Barn and
the Picnic Pavilion. They may be rented out for the day or overnight
use. They are popular for reunions and family picnics as well as church
and corporate functions. If you wish to use either of the Group Areas
overnight, bring your own
camping equipment. "THE GREAT CANADIAN HIDEAWAY .... "WHERE A SUNSET IS YOURS TO KEEP!"
